Preschool Curriculum
Beymer's curriculum uses a development, thematic approach. It promotes all phases of the child's development by providing a rich learning environment filled with fun, hands-on experiences. Our themes integrate literacy, mathematics, science, art, music and movement. These themes are explored within a context of interesting meaningful activities in a positive and loving environment.
Language & Literacy
Stories, books, letters, phonological awareness, dramatic play and
circles time are used to help children build their vocabularies and
to encourage the expression of their own ideas.
Mathematics
Numbers, patterns and relationships, spatial awareness, sequencing,
and measurement all teach children how to understand and order the
world around them.
Science
Exploring, experimenting, observing and discovering all create
opportunities for awareness of our changing natural environment.
Social Skills
Cooperation, negotiating, sharing, and responsibility help children
to begin to function as a member of a group. Children gain a
fundamental respect for themselves, their peers and the preschool
staff.
Music
Musical instruments, rhythm sticks, bean bags, balance beams, a
parachute and more are used to encourage children to enjoy musical
sounds and explore their own creative movement.
Art
Self-expression is developed through a wide variety of art media.
Children learn fine motor skills; awareness of color, shape, size
and texture; and find creative outlets for their imaginations.
Chapel
Chapel is held weekly on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 am. It is a time
of singing, praise, and worship in which all the children
participate.
Kindergarten Curriculum
The Beymer Methodist Kindergarten uses an interactive learning
environment designed to promote the growth of the whole child. Our
small class size promotes learning activities that are more
individualized in an environment that embraces respect, kindness and
a love for learning. Our curriculum is designed to meet Florida
Sunshine State Standards.
Our core academic subjects are enhanced by daily art and music,
chapel, field trips, class plays, outdoor recreational time, cooking
projects and much more.
